If you’re comparing the 2020 Bentley Mulsanne vs. Bentley Continental GT, you’re in for the ride of your life. Both of these impossibly luxurious vehicles deliver a touring experience that will leave you breathless on the roads near Los Angeles, and each comes equipped with the features and appointments that you may have only dreamed of until now!

We’ve laid out the most important differences between the new Mulsanne sedan and the new Continental Grand Tourer below, so you know what to expect when you commission a Bentley of your own for Los Angeles and Glendale adventures.

Interior Experience: Mulsanne or Continental?

Both the Mulsanne and the Continental come equipped with the most luxurious cabin materials, complete with striking finishes and details. Of course, each also enjoys a dazzling array of timeless amenities and the latest technologies.

However, there are also plenty of differences that will interest any discerning driver:

  • Interior Material: The Mulsanne interior can be optioned with 24 different leather colors, and it comes standard with a leather headliner. It’s also offered with a greater range of genuine open-pore wood veneers. The Continental GT has 15 leather options and a standard Alcantara headliner.
  • Technology Interface: The Continental GT comes standard with a 12.3-inch touchscreen. With an upgrade, you can rotate it into the dash and focus entirely on the road. The Mulsanne includes a more modest 8.0-inch front touchscreen. Both models can be optioned with dual 10.4-inch detachable rear displays.
  • Entertainment and Audio: Both models allow for seamless smartphone connectivity, but where the Continental GT receives a standard 10-speaker audio system, the Mulsanne receives a 14-speaker audio system with two subwoofers. Both models offer peerless Naim audio as an upgrade.
  • Cabin Dimensions: The standard Mulsanne wheelbase comes in at 128.6 inches, and it can be extended by 9.8 inches to produce an even more accomodating rear row. With a wheelbase of 112.2 inches, the Continental GT Convertible feels more focused on maneuverability and driving performance than comfort–but even here, it exceeds expectations.

Keep in mind that when you’re this high up in the luxury market, virtually every aspect of your purchase can be customized and tailored to your liking. Check out the rest of the Continental configurations to learn more, or just let us know what features have caught your attention!

Performance: Mulsanne or Continental?

Comparing the Mulsanne and Continental engines? These two vehicles each provide a unique touring experience, and that all begins with what’s under the hood:

  • Every Bentley Mulsanne includes a 505-hp twin-turbocharged 6.75-liter V-8 with 663 lb-ft of torque.
  • With the Bentley Continental GT, you’ll choose between the standard 6.0-liter W12 Engine, generating 626 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque, and the optional 4.0-liter V8. With 542 hp and 568 lb-ft of torque, it’s a potent power source in its own right.

With palatial standard and extended wheelbase configurations, the Mulsanne is perhaps best suited for use as a personal limousine. Although it’s also extraordinarily fun to drive, those who plan on spending most of their time behind the wheel will doubtlessly prefer the peerless power of the Mulsanne:

  • Mulsanne Acceleration: The Mulsanne Sedan can go from a standstill to 60 mph in just 5.1 seconds, rivaling much lighter alternatives with ease.
  • Mulsanne Top Speed: The Mulsanne can hit a top speed of 184 mph when you pull out all the stops.
  • Continental GT Acceleration: With the standard W12, the Continental GT Convertible can go from 0-60 mph in just 3.6 seconds. Opting for the V8 nets you a 3.9-second 0-60 time. Continental GT Convertible 0-60 times are slower by one-tenth of a second.
  • Continental GT Top Speed: With either body, the V8 can reach a top speed of 198 mph. The W12 achieves an even more impressive 207 mph.

Both models come standard with air suspension, continuous damping control, and selectable drive modes. The Mulsanne is around 1,000 pounds heavier than the Continental GT Convertible, but only the latter offers standard all-wheel drive.
